HIGH POINT/MARS HILL: Rachel Ammons Roberts, 82 of High Point, NC passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Hospice Home at High Point after a period of declining health.
Rachel was a native of Madison County, the daughter of the late Woodson and Alma Williams Ammons. She later married the late Bruce Benard Roberts. Rachel was a member of Emorywood Baptist Church in High Point. She graduated from North Carolina State University and taught Chemistry and other courses at High Point Central High School. She was a coach of the debate team and a member of the National Forensics League. After 40+ years of dedication to the school and students she retired. Rachel was blessed with the gift of teaching and was a blessing to many others by sharing her gift.
Rachel is also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Sue Ammons.

Surviving are four brothers; Roy, Lawrence, Woodson (Woody) and Justus (Judd) Ammons, sister, Geneva Ammons Maney, one son, James Bert Roberts and daughter-in-law Wendy Ainsley Roberts, grandchildren; James Bruce Ainsley Roberts, Connie Breanne Roberts and her fiancé Salvador Montalvo Achua, Sr. and one great grandchild Salvador Montalvo Achua, Jr.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2011 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Stanley Peek will officiate.
Burial will follow at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 AM Wednesday prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Woody Ammons, 1026 South Main St., Mars Hill, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials for Rachel be made to Hospice Home at High Point, 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point, N. C. 27262.
