Raymond Jessie Herron, 74, of Mars Hill, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at John F. Keever Solace Center. He was the son of the late Howard Bernard and Gertrude Shephard Herron. Mr. Herron was a US Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Murray Herron; a stepson, Darrell Murray; and a grandson, Raymond Gunter.

He is survived by a stepson, Roger Murray (Diane); sister, Marilyn Fisher (Bobby Dale) of Asheville; brothers, Bernard Herron, Ivan Herron, David Herron (Pauline), and Arthur Herron (Sandy) all of Weaverville; grandchildren, Brett and Kenny Murray as well as four great grandchildren and eleven nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 12pm Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Murray Cemetery. Rev. Ben Whitmire will officiate.
