Rev. Eugene Dodd, 77 of Bona Carsa Drive, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 6, 2013. Rev. Dodd was a native of Madison County and son of the late Welzie and Ada Lee Rathurn Dodd in addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother J. B. Dodd. He was pastor of Gospel Tabernacle, where he served for 32 years. His passion was for the lost, the poor, and the needy. Only eternity will be able to reveal the countless lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife Marie Moses Dodd; daughters, Joy Dalton (John), Cindy Nichols (Dale), Wanda Hensley (Jerry); sons, Darryl Dodd (Darlene) Eric Devern (Pam); 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister; Evelyn Bradley, brothers; Forrest, Billy and Harris Dodd.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Gospel Tabernacle, 202 Brickyard Rd., Asheville. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Hensley, Rev. Billy Dodd and Rev. Michael Cathey. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends 6 – 9 pm Wednesday, October 9, at the church.

He was so loved and we will miss him dearly. The parting is not final. Our hearts rest in the assurance that one day separation and tears will give way to unending joy. What made him so great, is the fact that he didn't know he was great!
