Richard Gregory Smith, 58, of Mars Hill, passed away at his home, Friday, November 15, 2019. He is the son of Carol Byrne Andres and husband Jim and the late Thomas H. Smith. Richard was employed with Mission Hospital in environmental services and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Wesley Smith, and his mother-in-law, Kathleen Bradford Dodd.

Richard is survived by his wife, Kathy Dodd Smith; daughters, Carol Jean Smith and Sarah Ann Smith; sister, Molly Smith; step-sister, Sue Bednarz; step-brothers, Michael, John, Richard, and Robert Andres; father-in-law, Forrest Dodd; brothers-in-law, Jimm and Rickey Dodd; aunt, Catherine Fitzgerald; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Reverends Keith Watkins and Jason Cox will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bradford Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday at the church.
