IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Vernon
Wilson
February 18, 1942 – September 8, 2024
Richard Vernon Wilson
02/18/1942-09/08/2024
A chill can be felt in the air as the seasons change from summer to fall, and as that began this year another transition was taking place. Richard Vernon Wilson was taking the final steps on his journey in this life. He completed his journey here on September 8, 2024, after a legacy of eighty-two years. He was born in Asheville, North Carolina to Marie & Vernon Wilson who predeceased him. Though life was not always easy he was blessed with three younger siblings. His brothers, Larry and Steve completed their life journeys several years ago while his brother-in law Paul Briggs whom he loved like a brother graduated to heaven earlier this year. Richard was thankful for Paul because he was the answer to Richard's prayer for his beloved sister Andrea.
When he was seventeen, he met the young lady who would become his life partner; Lee Ann Rhodes Wilson, and on October 19th, 1961, they were married. The Lord blessed them with 57 years together. Lee Ann passed on to glory on April 30th, 2018.
Richard was a meat cutter by trade and worked for Winn-Dixie and Bilo for over 25 years. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Weaverville.
The most devasting loss of his life was that of his most precious granddaughter, Kaitlyn Wilson, who completed her journey far too soon. He never stopped missing her, and it is certain their reunion in heaven was wonderful.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Melinda Noah (Albert), Darinda Noah (Ike), Daniel Wilson (Connie), Marella Ogden (Chris); along with seven grandchildren Aaron & Andrew Dillingham, Meagan Bartlett (Matt), Danielle Wilson, Logan & Aubry Noah and one great-grandchild; Hattie Ruth Bartlett whom he loved dearly along with his dear sister Andrea.
A graveside service will be at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory in Asheville, North Carolina on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024, at 10:30 am. The gravesite is in the lower section of the cemetery.
The family would like to extend huge thanks to Four Seasons Hospice for their care and support of their father and them during the last weeks of his life. Special Thanks goes to Heather, Jackie, Kelly, Rachel and Christy who were all instrumental in making his final days more pleasant and joyful.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Four Seasons Hospice, or your favorite charity.
