Ricky Eugene West, 71, of Madison County, North Carolina, passed away on April 23, 2026. He was born on January 17, 1955, in Madison County, North Carolina. Ricky lived a life defined by warmth, generosity, and an unwavering love for his community. Ricky was a proud employee of WHBK radio station in Marshall, North Carolina, where he devoted over thirty years of dedicated service. His passion for radio and his deep connection to the community he served were at the heart of everything he did. He took immense pride and joy in his work, and his voice and presence became a cherished part of daily life for countless listeners.

Known for his loving personality and his remarkable ability to connect with others, Ricky never met a stranger. He possessed a rare gift for making friends with everyone he encountered, and his genuine warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He loved the outdoors, the simple pleasures of life, and spending time with friends and family. Ricky held a deep and enthusiastic love for wrestling, both WWE and local hometown matches, and he never missed an episode or an opportunity to attend a live event. He was often found passing out tickets and flyers to support community wrestling events. He also carried a tender heart for animals, particularly dogs and cats.

Ricky is survived by his sister, Nancy Baker; and nieces, Donna Baker Trimnal and Priscilla Baker Hendrix.

May he find everlasting peace in the arms of his Creator, remembered always by those whose lives he brightened.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Roger Boone will officiate. Burial will follow in Bowman-Rector Cemetery.
