IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Lawrence
Bartlett
July 1, 1939 – October 20, 2024
Robert "Bob" Lawrence Bartlett, 85, of Weaverville, quietly went to be with the Lord on Sunday October 20, 2024. Bob, as most everyone knew him by, was born on July 1, 1939 to the late Carl and Della Ballard Bartlett. He was born and raised in the Reems Creek/Beech Community of Buncombe County. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William "Bill" Bartlett and James "Jim" Bartlett.
Bob was a 1959 graduate of North Buncombe High School where he served as manager of the Basketball and Football teams. He had many jobs in his lifetime. Bob had worked for: Strawberry Hill, Smokey Mountain Petroleum, Emmett Wilson Trucking, Airborne Express, National Linen, West Funeral Home and his most tenured job, driving a passenger bus for Young Transportation with over 20 years of service. He seemed to enjoy his bus driving days the most as he had numerous stories to tell of his trips, especially out West and hauling Clemson Tiger Football teams to their Bowl games. He also volunteered for the Weaverville Fire Department for several years.
Bob is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In Bob's later years he was cared for by his nieces and nephews until his health declined and he had to be placed in a nursing home. We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the staff at Riverbend Health and Rehabilitation as well as the staff at Four Seasons Hospice for his care they gave him the last five months of his life.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday October 27, 2024, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverend Steve Rhinehart will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Per Bob's wishes, in lieu of flowers, any memorials should be made to: St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
