Obituary

Ronald Morgan Hensley

October 9, 1947 - October 2, 2026

On a beautiful fall day, after a wonderful, relaxed breakfast with his wife, Ronnie took his last drive on earth in one of the old vehicles he so meticulously restored. If you knew Ronnie, you know that after Jesus and Frances, he loved old cars. Ronnie was the "car guy" that knew everybody and everything about cars, folks called from all around to get his input or advice on their old car. He seemed to know every classic car in the community, who owned it, and what was under the hood. Chatting with friends at car shows and rod runs, telling funny stories, and laughing together made Ronnie happy. He was lovingly known as the "Mayor" of his community. Meeting up with friends for breakfast in Mars Hill, and enjoying talking so much that sometimes he forgot to eat breakfast, was often the start of his day. Ronnie was an Air Force veteran and always looked forward to meeting with his fellow veterans at the "Man Cave" on Tuesday nights. Ronnie loved his church, his pastor, and his church family - Ronnie is now with Jesus, he would encourage you to know Jesus as your Savior so that you can join him one day.

Ronnie graduated from Mars Hill High School and Asheville-Buncombe Technical College.

So many will miss Ronnie, but none like his wife of 43 years, Frances Pack Hensley, as normally where you saw Ronnie, you saw Frances. He is also survived by his sisters, Joy, Kay (Jim), and Fay (Ronnie) - along with special nieces, nephews, and their children - and his special furry friend, Bella. Ronnie was predeceased by his father Kenneth Hensley and mother Eileen Morgan Hensley.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of the Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverend Keith Watkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at noon prior to the service at the funeral home.

Flowers are welcomed and appreciated, or memorials can be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 754 Aiken Road, Asheville NC 28804.
