Rose Arlee Thomas Rice, 86, of Marshall passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 at John F. Keever Solace Center. She is a lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ethel McDevitt Thomas. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Rice, Jr.

Rose is survived by her special family who thought of her as their Granny; Willard Norton, Enoch Norton, Terry Morris, Dwayne Norton, Debra Gunter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30am Sunday, January 12, 2020, at Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church of which she was a member and the piano player for over 40 years. Reverend Paul Norton will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-10:30am Sunday at the church.
