Ruby Rose Edwards Slagle, 89, of Phillips Valley Road, Mars Hill passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County and daughter of the late Luther and Ethel Smith Edwards. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Jurile Slagle; daughter, Teresa Marler and son in law, Jack; brothers, James "JV" and Carol Edwards. Mrs. Slagle retired from Honeywell as a Supervisor. She was a member of Old Bull Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Vance Chapter #285 OES.

She is survived by a daughter, Janet Griffin (Mark); son, Donald Slagle (Sandra); sister, Maxine Tuten; brother, Preston Edwards; grandchildren, Dennis Slagle (Mandy), Robin Griffin, Misty Rodriguez (Ron), Lisa Miller (Shawn), Casey Griffin, Elizabeth Pack (Kenneth), and Ansel Dave Slagle (Cara); 16 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 10, at Old Bull Creek Baptist Church. Reverend Kenneth Pack will officiate. Vance Chapter #285 will be assisting with the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Saturday in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. At other times the family will receive friends at 244 Phillips Valley Rd., Mars Hill.
