IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth
Calloway
October 7, 1945 – February 19, 2023
Ruth Calloway, 77, of Weaverville, NC passed away peacefully to the arms of Jesus, February 19, 2023. She was a "miracle" with a strong fighting spirit as quoted by her oncologist, Dr. Don Jackson, as she endured and conquered stomach, lung and cancer of both breasts and remained cancer free up to the day she passed.
A native of Asheville, NC, she attended Lee H Edwards High School. She retired after 39 years of service to Ben Lippen School then onto the Asheville School including Camp Hollymont. Ruth loved reminiscing about growing up in Asheville on Rankin Avenue and riding the bus downtown to the Five and Dime. She had a love for music and played piano by ear. Ruth worked and purchased her very own piano at the age of 18.
Ruth is preceded in death by her ex-husband Alonzo Fore; mother, Dora Lance Parker; father, Walter Calloway; brother, Samuel Calloway; sisters, Ann Calloway Medford and Susan Parker Breedlove.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dennis Fore of Hot Springs, Kelly Fore Waldroup of Marshall, Theresa Fore Parker of Weaverville; daughter-in-law, Jody Ingle Fore of Leicester; grandsons, Jimmy "Lee" Moore (Tiffany), of Mars Hill, Gabriel Waldroup of Marshall, and Damian Fore (Brittany) of Big Stone Gap, VA; granddaughters, Ashley Banks Clopton (Brian) of Morganton, Felicia Banks Cutshall (Tyler) of Greeneville, TN, Lynn Ingle Ortiz (Emilo) of Asheville; sister, Cathy Parker Metcalf (Bill) of Mars Hill; brothers, Phillip Parker of Newton, William Parker of Conway, SC,; great grandchildren, Jordan Wells, Adalyn Clopton, Hunter and Brooklyn Moore.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, mother asked that everyone gather with their families for a picnic in remembrance of her.
