Ruth Cook Greene, 96, of Asheville, passed away on May 16, 2026. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late C.W. and Jessie Mae Lance Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Greene; her sons, Kenneth and David M. Greene; her sisters, Myrtle and Lola Cook and Gladys Lezard; and her brothers, Charles and Doyle Cook; granddaughter, Kris Cronan, and one great-great grandson, Tucker Carter.

Ruth enjoyed the outdoors and listening to the Gaither Vocal Band. She saw the good in everyone, cared deeply for those around her, and treasured her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Shirley Parker; her daughters-in-law, Brenda and Deborah Greene; three granddaughters, Nicole Gardner (Scott), Tiffany Greene, and Kellye Barker; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Louise Cook, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, NC. The Rev. Jody Griffin will officiate.
