Ruth Metcalf Penland, 67, of Weaverville, passed away August 30, 2021. She was the daughter of Lucille Hylemon Metcalf and the late Fred Metcalf. Also preceding in death is her brother, John Metcalf.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Randy Penland; son, Chad Penland (Lori); grandchildren, Alexis Dison, Sage and Chance Penland; sisters, Hazel Peterson and Betty Brown; and brother, Bill Metcalf.

A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church, of which Ruth was a member. Reverend Steve Rhinehart will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
