My loving mother, Ruth Reed Whitmire, entered the gates of Heaven after passing away, November 20, 2023 after a long and joy filled life. She always demonstrated a life of Jesus in how she gave to others during her life. She received real joy from helping others.

If you would like to pay your respects you are welcome to attend the memorial service that we are holding in her honor at Pisgah View Memorial Park, located at 1529 Smokey Park Hwy., Candler, NC 28715, Saturday, November 25 at 1:00 pm.

Ruth leaves behind her daughter, Marie Parker and husband Josh; a son, Sean Shaw and wife Dawn; 3 grandchildren, Heaven Parker, Danielle Highfield, and Christine Shaw; all of the Reed grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, Parker Highfield; sisters, Laura Carolin, and Wanda Jones; and her best friend, Loenna Henderson.

She was predeceased in death by her husband Gene Reed; parents, Gertrude and Everett Cretsinger; sisters, Rhea, Myrtle, and Nina; and brothers, Charles, Everett, and Lloyd.

Ruth, in her giving nature, would want others to give donations to Camp Cedar Cliff, in lieu of flowers. This donation would help a less fortunate child get to go to camp and hear the gospel of Jesus.
