Shirley Marie Chandler Roberts, 89, of Weaverville, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026. She was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the daughter of the late John Frank Chandler and Belle Wilson Chandler Sprinkle.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Tony Roberts, sisters, Ethel Howell and Grace Fender, and brother, James Chandler.

Shirley was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. She was affectionately known by everyone as Granny and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Steve Roberts and Randy Roberts; grandchildren, Stacie Taylor (Brant), Loretta Ball (Kurt), Adam Roberts, Christopher Roberts, and Jonathan Roberts (Stephanie); eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Gary Fender will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park. Adam Roberts, Kurt Ball, Brant Taylor, Hunter Taylor, Quinn and Ledger Ball will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
