Shirley Norton Shelton, 84, of Mars Hill, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late Winfred Norton and Lovada Rice Norton Grooms. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Shelton, an infant daughter, Debbie Mace, a stepdaughter, Jackie DeJesus, and two sisters, Iva Glenn Capps and Ernestine Pardon.

Shirley was a member of Foster Creek Baptist Church. Everyone loved Shirley, and she loved everyone. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her flowers.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Troy Grooms (Pat); sister, Geneva Dockery (Phil); a special niece and nephew, Sandi & Joe Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Nick Coates, Ken Parker, and Robert Taffer will officiate. Burial will follow in California Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
