Rev. Steward Edwards, 85, of Mars Hill, went to his heavenly home, Friday, October 8, 2021. He is a lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late France and Hassie Brackens Edwards. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Dawn Radford; daughter-in-law, Sheila Edwards; siblings, Aida Shelton, Daithel Griffith, Vo English, Frances Rector, Horrace, Elbert, and Cleophus "Doc" Edwards, Velma Rooney, Wilma McClellan, and Annie Edwards. Rev. Edwards was a former pastor of several churches in North Carolina and Tennessee.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Faye Willis Edwards; daughters, Pracilla Noonkester (Doug) and Barbara Radford (Roy); son, Rickie Edwards; three brothers, George Edwards (Dorothy), Cameron Edwards, and Willard Edwards (Virginia); grandchildren, Casey Edwards (Erica) and their daughter, Brooklyn Edwards and Tyler Edwards and his children Maverick and Lainey Edwards and their mother Danielle Edwards.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Weldon Ramsey and Brian Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow in the Chandler Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
