Stokley Luke Norton, 93, of Grapevine Road, Marshall, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 at Madison Health and Rehabilitation. He is the son of the late James Norton and Bessie Mae Wheeler Slagle and a lifelong resident of Madison County. Mr. Norton was a veteran of the US Army and was awarded a Purple Heart medal during WWII. He was also a member of Grapevine Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Norton Ramsey; son-in-law, Kevin Ogle; sisters, Nellie Rice, Estoy Haney, Vaudia Gunnel, and Ruby Sprinkle; and brothers, Odell and Ernest Norton.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Clara Arrington Norton; daughter, Vonda Ogle; son, Doyle Norton; grandchildren, Donna Summers, Stacy Ramsey, Crystal, Jason, Josh, Justin and Clarrissa Norton; 14 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Wade Rice will officiate. Burial will follow in Dill Cemetery, Weaverville. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
