Obituary

Talitha McDaris Price, of Madison County, NC, went to her Heavenly home on September 5, 2021. Talitha lived an amazing 101 years blessed with good health, a loving family, and innumerable friends from the many different walks of her life. She was a devoted mother and an adoring "Granny/Nanny." In addition to being extremely proud of her family, she took great joy in quilting and crocheting, jelly-making, and collecting pretty rocks and seashells. Her great-grandchildren loved searching for seashells with her on the yearly family beach trips, most recently in 2019, where she walked on the beach every day at age 99. She had a sweet tooth and loved to "dance a jig." She cherished her hundreds of family pictures that she proudly displayed throughout her home and loved sharing her precious trinkets with the great-grandchildren. Her favorite day of the year was Christmas morning when the entire family would gather at her house for a special Christmas breakfast. Later in her life, she enjoyed riding the bus every day to the Marshall Senior Center where she spent many precious hours eating lunch and spending time coloring, crafting, playing games, and visiting with friends.

She was born January 12, 1920, to the late Canaria and Dahlia McDaris, and was one of six children. Born and raised in Hot Springs, NC, she spent the majority of her life in the Fairview Community. She attended and graduated from Hot Springs High School and eventually became the school librarian, where she loved working with the school children. In 1974, she became the Director of the Hot Springs Day Care Center where she worked until retirement in 1986. One of her biggest life achievements came at age 69 when she returned to college to graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Mars Hill College. She was the oldest member of Hot Springs First Baptist Church.

Talitha is survived by two daughters, Selma Wallin and Pam Maguire (Mike), five grandchildren, Gail Wallin Sears (Will), Carla Wallin Schneider (Matt), Jonathan Carl Wallin (Oshen), Rebekah Andrews Hampton (Joe), Hanna Wallin Hardin (Todd), twelve great-grandchildren, Jake, Grace, and Kate Sears, Quinn Schneider, Caden, Tyler, and Kyleigh Wallin, Lily and Miriam Hampton, and Luke, Bryce, and Cam Hardin, a brother, Frank McDaris (Charlotte), and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, brother Jack McDaris, sisters, Lorene Ricker, Vonalee Freeman, Eveline Cowan, and son-in-law, J.C. Wallin.
