Taryn Ray
George
August 2, 2003 – May 12, 2026
Gospel Way Baptist Church
Starts at 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
Taryn Ray George, of Mars Hill, passed away on May 12, 2026, at the age of 22. Born on August 2, 2003, in Marshall, Taryn was the son of Steven and Jennifer George.
Taryn was a devoted husband, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose kindness, humor, and unforgettable spirit touched everyone who knew him. On October 24, 2025, he married the love of his life, Kaitlyn Fountain George, and together they were building a beautiful life filled with love and laughter in Burnsville.
For the past three years, Taryn worked with the City of Asheville Water Resources Department, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dependable nature, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Taryn found happiness in life's simple moments. He loved tinkering with cars he proudly "lowballed" someone for on Facebook Marketplace, riding his four-wheeler, and making late-night ice cream runs with Kaitlyn. He enjoyed "rage baiting" his beloved dogs, Diesel and Sage, and spending time with his close friends Keith, Dale, Jeremy, Caleb, Daniel, and many others. Come September, you could almost always find Taryn in his tree stand, enjoying the outdoors and making memories with the people he loved most.
Those who knew Taryn will forever remember his bright smile, contagious laughter, and terrible dad jokes that somehow always managed to make everyone laugh. He had a way of lighting up every room he entered and could always bring comfort and joy to someone having a hard day. Taryn loved deeply, trusted easily, and never hesitated to show up for anyone who needed him. His generous heart and selfless spirit will never be forgotten.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kaitlyn Fountain George; his parents, Steven and Jennifer George; his brothers, Cameron Scott, Tristen Alexander, and Jayce Scott; his grandparents, Brenda George, and Jimmy and Debbie Pegg; his aunt, Scarlett Cohee and husband Anthony; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and countless dear friends. In addition to his biological father, Scott Sigmon, Taryn was preceded in death by his grandmother, Theresa Schwab.
Though his time here was far too short, Taryn's love, laughter, and unforgettable presence will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 16, 2026 in the chapel of Gospel Way Baptist Church, 8851 US 19, Burnsville, NC. Rev. Logan Buchanan will officiate.
