Thelma Shelton Johnson passed away on August 17, 2022, at Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mars Hill. Thelma was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Wanda Shelton King. She retired from Micro-Switch and was formerly employed with Sam's Club. In addition to her parents Thelma was preceded in death by six sisters: Roberta Shelton, Ama Lee Shelton, Verna Lee Shelton, Gladys Cantrell, Marie Shelton, and Donnie Shelton; and four brothers: Clinton, Beechard, Mason, and Richard King.

Thelma is survived by her son: Steven "Possum" Johnson; one granddaughter: Kye Johnson; four sisters; Pauline Carter, Lou Canupp (Wayne), Beatrice Herman (Jim), and Lottie Hensley; three brothers; Carson King (Delores), Lawrence Cutshaw (Peggy), and J.V. Hensley (Lucille); one special niece; Renee Reeves and one special great nephew; Weston Reeves; honorary granddaughter, Chase Lewis; and several other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Thelma's life will be at 2pm Saturday, August 27, 2022, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, with the Rev. Eric Young officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
