Obituary

Truman Rice, 80, of Mars Hill, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on March 24, 2026.

Born October 30, 1945, in Madison County, he was the son of the late Julius and Lilly Honeycutt Rice. Truman was a great provider for his family. He was the former owner/operator of Skyland Fence Company. He enjoyed building things, anything construction, and working on old cars. Truman was a Christian man, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Dodd; and two sisters, Virginia Graham and Lucille Carver.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan Lamb Rice; daughter and special caregiver, Hanna Worley (Michael) as well as his other daughters, Kelly Lamb and Tiffany Cole (Tony); sister, Deborah Roberts; brother, L.J. Rice (Brenda); and grandchildren, Tristin Pritchard, Mason Pritchard, and Athena Mae Taylor.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service in Mars Hill, with Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 31, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
