Verna Lee (King) Shelton, 83, of Erwin TN went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Vern was born April 19, 1938 in Madison County NC to her late parents Roscoe and Matilda (Hensley) King. She was a member of Carmen Church of God and loved the Lord. She gave praise to the Lord not only through her worship and testimony but by singing for many years with her husband Odell and sister Gladys. She loved her family and friends. Even though she never had children of her own, she was a Christian mother to so many. She was always helping others, caring, and loving to all. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Odell Shelton of 68 loving years. Sisters, Ama Lee Shelton, Lou Canupp (Wayne), Beatrice Herman (Jim), Pauline Carter, stepsister Thelma Johnson; brother Carson King (Delores); two sisters-in-law, Louella King and Carolyn King; brother-in-law, Dariel Cantrell and several nieces, nephews, and cousins..

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Roebertie Shelton, Marie Shelton, Gladys Cantrell; brothers, Clinton King, Mason King, Beechard King, and Richard King.

A funeral service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with Reverend Cameron Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Carmen Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service.
