Vivian Hall Mitchell, 82, of Harmony of Reynolds Mountain, died on February 11, 2025 at the Hospice Solace House at Care Partners in Asheville with her family by her side. Vivian was born in Greenwood, S.C. on October 29, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Doris Hall.

After graduation from Ware Shoals High School in 1960, she graduated from Furman University in 1964 and The Medical University of South Carolina where she earned her Masters in Health Science Degree in May 14, 1982. Vivian was an active member of First Baptist Church in Stanley, N.C. where she served on a quilting ministry. She retired in 2008 as the Director of the Lab at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Mitchell, Sr. who died in 2008.

Survivors include her sister, Linda Mann; son, Dr. James H. Mitchell Jr., and daughter-in-law, Dr. Marta Sue Johnson Mitchell and their children, Finley and Claire Mitchell all of Bend Oregon; daughter, Jennifer Mitchell Shelley and son-in-law, Allen Shelley and their daughter, Lilly Shelley all of Mars Hill, N.C.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. A private interment will be held later in Greenwood, S.C.
