IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wade
Hunter
October 12, 1932 – September 4, 2024
Wade Hunter, 91, of the Walnut Creek Community in Marshall, went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Saviour, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 after hugging and bidding "Good-bye" to his immediate family surrounding him. He was gloriously and peacefully gathered to his people in heaven above. Wade was born October 12, 1932 in Marshall, NC to the late Burns and Nannie Ball Hunter. He worked for the O.A. Gregory Oil Company for approximately 30 years delivering oil and gas; and also worked for Troy, Tino and Brown Company for several years.
Wade worked hard on his farm raising crops and cattle. His love for people left a lasting impression to those he met all through his life, whether it was on his oil route, sharing farm work or just always lending the helping hand he extended to all in need. He firmly believed in putting others first and lived his life strictly by the King James Bible believing in not showing respect to any one person but loving and helping all. His honesty and integrity following the words of Christ made him a "stout' solid rock person who could not be swayed to do anything "shady". All of you who received his help and love over many years know who he really was. Many of you enjoyed sharing hunting and camping trips with him. Wade loved his family, always putting himself last and his family first. Through his hard work all his life, he was able to provide each of his three children with their own land and home before leaving this life. All his grandchildren and their families will forever cherish the many special events and memories over the years with their "Pa". His greatest love in life was his Church, Walnut Creek Baptist Church. He was faithful to it in the fullest extent possible, never missing services until his health did not permit him to attend. Even then, he faithfully listened to live services through a transmitter placed in the church. Wade served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher and graciously opened his home to many preachers for meals and visits over the years, always encouraging the church to help the needy, but most of all – to help those without Jesus to find Him. That was his greatest goal in this life.
In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by his brothers, Vincent "Buddy" and Leonard Hunter, his sisters, Ruby Ball and Genell Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, the sweet heart and love of his life, Arlene Freeman Hunter, with whom he shared 72 years of happy marriage and three children; son, Jesse Hunter, daughter, Teressa Hunter and daughter, Audrey Hunter Baker (Cliff); Grandchildren, Nathan Hunter, Julie Hunter, Dustin Hunter (Bethany) and Jonathan Hunter (Jessica); Great-Grandchildren, Renee Livesay, Silver Hardison, Ellen Beth Faircloth (Jerad), David Hardison, Chloe Hunter, Lily Hunter and Hannah Grace Hunter; Great-Great Grandchildren, Emily Livesay, Saphira Autry, Ronnie and Derek Autry, Elaina and AnnaLeigh Faircloth and Cooper Hardison; a special lifelong friend, Mitchell Reece; his brother, Clarence Hunter; his sisters, Dorothy Warren and Lucille Deal.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 P.M. – until on Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Walnut Creek Baptist Church, 3685 Walnut Creek Rd., Marshall, NC 28753. The Church Service to honor Wade's life will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 with Reverends Gerald Sprinkle, Bryan Shetley and Cliff Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Wade Hunter Family Cemetery, 1135 Hunter Creek Rd., Marshall, NC
28753.
Wade would prefer the money spent on flowers to be used to help those in need, especially the children. Flowers are acceptable or donations to his church, Walnut Creek Baptist Church, C/O Arlene Hunter, 3681 Walnut Creek Rd., Marshall, NC 28753.
Wade's family would like to say "Thank You" to all those who were a "true friend" to him over the years; to all those in the medical field, especially "Joy" and Dr. Curry Jones and his staff, who assisted him over the years, and to Blue Ridge Funeral Service for their help in our time of need. We thank Jesus, most of all, for making a way for us to see Wade again and for the comfort and peace only He can give.
Blue Ridge Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.blueridgefuneralservice.org.
