Obituary

Wanda Lou Fox Edwards, 77, of Mars Hill, NC, peacefully entered into the loving arms of Jesus on October 1, 2026, at the Solace Center of WNC.

Wanda was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, second mom, and friend. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and sweet presence touched the lives of so many. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Born on February 8, 1949, Wanda was the daughter of Howard "Jack" Fox and Shirley Eva Cox Fox (S.E.).

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Katherine Rice and Evelyn Anderson; and her brother, Frank Fox.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bernie Edwards; her devoted daughters, Evonda Carver (Gersheon) and Belinda Davis (James); and her four beloved grandsons, Adam, Daniel, Caleb, and Seth, who were truly the light of her life. Her dear brothers, Sam Fox (Joyce) and Robert Fox (Betty). Also, several precious nieces and nephews.

Wanda was born with a servant's heart and spent her life caring for and comforting those around her. Her love was often expressed through countless meals shared, heartfelt prayers offered, and quiet acts of kindness extended to family, friends, and members of her community.

A soft-spoken woman who would rather stand in the background and see others shine. Wanda's voice would become emboldened when speaking about her Lord and Savior. She would often stand before others and testify to the goodness of God.

A servant, a prayer warrior and a deep devotion to her family; Wanda's earthly imprint will live on through all the people she touched with her life.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the loving nurses and staff at Compassionate Care in Burnsville, NC, for the kindness, compassion, and care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Compassionate Care of WNC, 856 Georges Fork Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, October 5, 2026, in the Middle Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Shane Cassida and Chaplin Jody Griffin will officiate.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.blueridgefuneralservice.org.
