William P. "Bill" Conner, age 68 of Weaverville, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 17, 1957 in Asheville, to the late Roy and Ruth Fisher Conner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Kimberly Conner, who died in 2018.
Bill was highly respected as an engineer. He worked many years for Metropolitan Sewerage District and his final years of employment were with North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Bill was an avid fisherman, snow skier, and hiker. His passion was his faith and family. Bill believed Jesus to be our only way to heaven. He served as a Deacon at Woodland Hills Church for a number of years, was an active member of the Gideons and freely shared his faith with others.
He is survived by the love of his life whom he married September 4, 1982, Sherry Plemmons Conner; son, Grant William Conner; sister, Jennifer Conner Smith (Richard), sister-in-law, Marsha Eller; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, January 23, 2026 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of which he was a member. Pastor Keith Watkins and Rev. Gary Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
