Yuvonda Metcalf Jenkins, 75, of Mars Hill, NC passed away on October 26, 2022, at CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville, NC. Yuvonda was the daughter of the late Zade and Inez Treadway Metcalf. She loved her family most of all and was always there for them no matter the cost to her. Yuvonda loved her church, playing the piano at Shady Grove Baptist Church since she was just a girl and she played piano like no other. Listeners could hear the love for God in every note she played. Yuvonda was passionate about the nursery where she worked and meeting all the people who came to do business there. She truly appreciated nature, birds, butterflies, trees, mountains, and all of God's glory. She cherished her home where her husband Howard and her shared most of their 56 years of marriage. Being a wife, mama, nana, daughter, and sister was her pleasure. Yuvonda was often found laughing and smiling, happiest when other people were happy. In the end Yuvonda loved to dance!!

The Jenkins family will be forever grateful for the caregivers who fell in love with her. Yuvonda's family is especially thankful for Carolyn Ponder who unselfishly showed up every Wednesday with homemade goodies, and for all who loved her, thank you!

Yuvonda is survived by her husband: Howard Jenkins, son: Joey Jenkins, daughter: Janet Jenkins, two grandchildren: Emily and Mason Shelton, and two sisters: Sharon Fender and Debbie Shelton.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 2:00pm in the Metcalf Family State Line Cemetery in Mars Hill, NC with the Reverends Danny Jenkins and Josh Vestal officiating. After the service the Jenkins family will be having a gathering of family and friends at Shady Grove Baptist Church to share favorite memories of Yuvonda. There will be plenty of desserts and everyone is welcome to attend.
