Ethel Pegg Hale Whitworth, 98, passed away September 19, 2015. Mrs. Whitworth was a native of Madison county, having lived in Greenville, SC for the past 40 years. She is the daughter of the late William and Martha Fagan Pegg. Mrs. Whitworth began her career at Watson’s Dry Goods in Marshall, then worked for many years as a Dental Assistant for Dr. H.E. Bollinger in both Marshall and Weaverville. She also worked with Lib Duvall as a Nurse’s Assistant for Madison County Schools before retiring from the Greenville County Housing Authority. Ethel loved gardening, flowers, pets and her grandchildren. She was the oldest living member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Hale and Edward Whitworth, one sister and three brothers.
Mrs. Whitworth is survived by daughters, Patsy Waldrop Roland, Carol Herbert, Janice Harris and husband Mickey, grandchildren, Susan Coates, Wendy Mazula, Eddie and Mark Ball and Todd Harris; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, September 22, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Jim Crayton will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Rector Chapel Cemetery.
