Obituary for Virginia Loretta Whittemore (Harris)

Virginia Loretta Whittemore (Harris)
Virginia Harris Whittemore entered into heavenly rest on September 23, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer.
Virginia was born in 1935 in Barnardsville NC and resided in the Beech Community area of Reems Creek.
Virginia was known her whole life by her beautiful voice. She had a voice of an angel and touched many lives with her singing. She very much enjoyed singing gospel music and was always proud to share the Holy Spirit in her music. She loved her Savior and rejoiced and praised him with her music.
Virginia loved her family so very much. She never failed to hug a neck and always said “I love you” to so many. She never met a stranger and always welcomed visitors with a smile that could light up a whole room.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Kelly Carrol Whittemore. Surviving are her children Robert, Carol, Cathy Whittemore and Rebecca Sonia.
Virginia is also preceded in death by sisters Bonnie Whittemore, Katherine Norton, Helen Watson, and Ruth Burgess. Surviving siblings are sister’s Alice Fulp, Frances Hunnicutt and brother Franklin Harris.
She also leaves behind many very special nieces and nephews and great friends one of which, Margaret Baker, was her best friend for 64 years.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Barnardsville Church of God. Rev. Daniel Reid and Rev. Jay Raybuck will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11am-1pm Saturday, at Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Burial will follow at the Harris Family Cemetery.
