Bruce Edward Sites was born August 16, 1935 and his light force moved on Monday June 6, 2016. Bruce was born in Colorado Springs, CO, and preceded in death by his parents John T. and Beulah Sites, his stepmother Ruth Sites and his brother Charles. Bruce was a veteran and served in the US Navy and US Marines, held a Master’s Degree in Biology from the University of Miami and worked to create and Chair the Biology Department for Miami Dade College where he served as a Professor. Bruce moved to Central Florida where he worked with the University of Florida to operate the state’s first Heart and Lung Machine used in surgical application. He joined the State of Florida Environmental Health Department and retired after 26 years of service then relocated to the Asheville area. Bruce was a thrill seeker, a kind and sparkling man, a scuba diver, a sky diver, a provider, a special kind of soul with a zest for life! Bruce is dearly missed and survived by his bride of 43 years, Debbie Sites of Mars Hill, his daughter and son in law, Melissa L. Sites and Dean Pistor of Asheville, his son and daughter in law Mark and Ellen Sites of Louisville KY, grandchildren Baylee, Julian, Olivia, Margaret, John T, and the many children that he and Debbie fostered. Celebration of life to be announced.
