Marie Haynes Buckner, 86 of 939 Old Mtn. Road, passed away at her residence Wednesday, November 16, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Hugh and Lena Ray Haynes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Buckner is preceded in death by her husband Edsel Buckner and a grandchild, Tristan Buckner. Mrs. Buckner was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a retired school teacher who loved to quilt, cook, sew and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her sons Gary Buckner (Sandy) of Mars Hill, and Roger Buckner (Erika) of Lynchburg, VA.; grandchildren, Jamie, Brandon, Ashley Boykin (Brian), Dalton Love; great grandchildren, Cadence and Delilah.
A graveside service will be held 2:00pm Friday, November 18, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations made to Care Partners Foundation, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
