Condolence: Mr. Chapman was the registrar when I came to Mars Hill. He was one of the very first people that I met. He was so kind and caring. I will never forget his classy demeanor. I was really sorry to hear of his passing. He was truly a great man and I am a better person to have known him. My prayers are with the family.

Condolence: Although I only knew Mr. Chapman for a couple days, it only took me that short time to know that he was a very special man. As a nurse working in a busy hospital, sometimes you see patients come in and stay for days on end, and they would never have or see even a single visitor or family member. Mr. Chapman was very different, he had family members at bedside his entire stay while in the hospital. Both his daughters and son-n-law were so attentive to their fathers needs. It was an honor to listen to stories about Mr. Chapman and see pictures of him in his past. Your entire family will be in my thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you all and show you his love as you make this journey. Thinking of you and praying God’s blessings for you all!

Condolence: I have fond memories of my college days at Mars Hill and getting to know Melanie Chapman Vinten-Johansen, as a fellow Home Economics major, and Dr. and Mrs. Chapman. I remember taking a January Mimi-mester class that they taught together on decoupage and needlepoint. What a delightful couple and the love and respect they had for each other was very evident. Dr. Chapman's gentile demeanor and wonderful head of white hair will be missed in the greater Mars Hill area and among MHU alumni. (Ila Ball Teague)
