Obituary for Marie Holcombe (Phillips)
Marie Phillips Holcombe, 89, of Forest St. passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Perry and Ellie Fox Phillips. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Holcombe and brothers, Robert and Bill Phillips.
Marie was a lifelong resident of Madison County and active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a seamstress for the Bailey Mountain Cloggers and the Mars Hill Community. She was a member of the Mars Hill Lions Club and recipient of the NC Governor’s Award. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and antiquing.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Sexton, Robert Holcombe (Joyce), Robin Burnette (Terry), David Holcombe; brothers, Charles Phillips (June), Larry McLaughlin; grandchildren, Susann, John, Jennifer, Lauren, Jacklyn, Jaycie and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 12:00PM Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Glenn Graves officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will be held prior to the service at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Youth.
The family would like to express special thanks to Madison Home Care and Madison Hospice for the care of their mother.
