Dorothy Arrowood (Rice)
Dorothy Rice Arrowood, 91, of Weaverville, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Mrs. Arrowood was born January 23, 1927 in the Middle Fork community of Madison County. She attended Beech Glen School and A.B. Tech Community College. Dorothy loved children and did what she could for all of them. She was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church. Dorothy was the last surviving child of the late Morgan and Pansy Rice. She was married 58 years to the late Benjamin L. Arrowood who died in 1997. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Gus and Eugene Rice; and sisters, Faye Ramsey, Ida Heckel and Thelma Maynor.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathy Banks and husband Johnny of Weaverville; son Roger Arrowood of Mars Hill; nephews, Jimmy Crocket and wife Peggy and Joe Ramsey; grandchildren, Shannon Lee Arrowood and wife Tammy, Johnny Lee Banks, Donna May Banks Craig and husband Brian; great grandchildren Shianne Leah Arrowood Parham and husband Rick, Emily Grace Arrowood, Brian Scott Craig, Dakoata Lee Banks, Tailor Paige Banks, Harli Emerson Banks; and great-great grandchildren, Aubree Grace Parham, Koata Lee Banks.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel. Reverend Steve Rhinehart will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service.
