Obituary for Ronald Ralph McBride Sr.

Ronald Ralph  McBride Sr.
Ronald Ralph McBride Sr., 77 of Weaverville, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Black Mountain. He was born in Salt Lake City, UT to the late Ralph Lowery McBride and Norma Sturznegger Johnson and grew up in Roswell, NM. Ron served in the US Marine Corp for 6 years during the Vietnam War, entering at the young age of 17 and was very proud to serve his country. For 10 years, he worked for Ploeger Vineyards and Winery where he was a winemaker and events coordinator at S&W Building in downtown Asheville. He was a man of many talents, a huge history buff, who loved the outdoors, gardening and reading. Ron retired from Oakwood Homes as a service technician. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Harold Coates.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Diana Coates McBride; sons, Ronald Ralph McBride Jr. of Marshall, and Hagan Mackenzie McBride of Weaverville; brother Keith Raymond McBride (Sharon) of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Dakota and Alex McBride, both of Marshall; and mother-in-law, Carol Coates of Marshall.
A graveside service will be held at 11am Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Coates Family Cemetery. Chaplain Jack Taylor will officiate.
A special thank you to the staff at the NC State Veterans Home for their loving dedication and care.
Ronald was one of a kind and will be missed by many.
