Obituary for Jane Lowery (Myers)

Mary Jane Myers Lowery, 81, of 15 Willow Knolls Drive, Weaverville, passed away October 7, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Harry Ellsworth and Mary Elizabeth Freeland Myers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Anne Myers and Edna Marie McGavic, and a brother, James Myers.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Liz Lowery of Weaverville and three sons, David Lowery, Darrel Lowery and Gus Lowery, as well as three grandchildren, Kristen, Eric and Kara Lowery. Jane’s brother, Gus Myers, resides in Denton, TX.
Jane was a retired nurse, with degrees in nursing and teaching. She preferred geriatric nursing, working in and around Galesburg, IL and kept her certification active until her 80th birthday. She got her nursing certification in her 50’s, having wanted to be a nurse all her life. She was a leader in the Girl Scouts for many years, loving to camp and hike. Although she got involved with the Girl Scouts because her daughter’s troop needed a leader, she remained involved for many years because she loved the opportunity to work with young girls and encourage them and made many good friends.
A graveside service will be held in Windsor, Illinois on 10/22/2016.
