Condolence From: Dana Melton
Condolence: Brenda was my father's (Ralph Melton) 1st cousin. She was very sweet and I can say that all her "Baltimore cousins" loved her. The last time I saw her in person was at my grandmother and her aunt's funeral (Empress Mounce-Melton). She was especially warm and kind and will always be remembered. I am sure she has found her "place" in heaven. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones.

Condolence: Brenda was one of the best teachers I had at Mars Hill College. She had high expectations for all of her students and made us believe in ourselves. She was a great teacher and demonstrated her love for all of us. I enjoyed her coming over to eat our meals at the “Humphrey House.” This is where we got to know Brenda, as a person, as well as a teacher. I loved her sense of humor and enjoyed being her student. She was a role model for me as well as hundreds of others. I know how it is to lose a loved one and I pray that God will hold you all close and help you during this difficult journey. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Condolence: Patrick, Molly and Family,
Brenda was a wonderful, caring lady who I admired very much. I first met her in the fall of 1972 as a freshman Home Economic major during her first year of teaching at Mars Hill. I have many wonderful memories of our classes and meals in the home management house. Over the years, she was a role model for me and I wanted to be just like her, because she could do anything! I remember after Molly was born, I visit Brenda at her home on Lonesome Mountain and she showed me the deck that she was building. Later on, our paths crossed again when Molly and Patrick were band students and Robert was the band director. She was the consumate band mother. We worked together with fundraisers, the concession stand and feeding the band during band camp week. She was an amazing organizer and the best cookie maker!! Robert and I have lost a good friend. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, as I know this is a very difficult time for you and your families.
