MARS HILL: Finnie Jane Dill Proffitt, 90 of Mars Hill passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Emerald Ridge Rehab and Care Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late George and Maggie Buckner Dill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Proffitt.

Surviving are her daughters; Johanna Smith, Irene Shelton, Alma Jean Johnson and Marie Metcalf, sons; James Proffitt and Wayne Proffitt, sister, Mae Watson, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, March 13, 2011 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Kenneth Parker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dill-Peek Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be; Dexter Worley, Bobby, David and Jason Shelton, Matt Kidd and Mike Pope. The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
